Cubberley Sales to Begin Soon

The first sale at our new Cubberley facility will be on December 14, 2002, continuing our tradition of having book sales on the second Saturday of every month.  We'll give you directions to get to the new site in next month's issue of this newsletter.

We'll be busy this month bringing tens of thousands of books over to Cubberley to sell just as soon as the rooms are ready for us to move into.  If you would like to help with the move, please e-mail us.

Also, we're looking for some items to help us furnish the new space.  If you would like to donate a small refrigerator, an IBM-compatible computer, an electric teakettle, a copier, and/or an office desk, please contact us.

Meanwhile, we will still have our bargain book room at Terman, and we are hoping to have more sales there too.  Please continue to bring your large donations of books and other library-type materials to that site.

Library Bond Measure D Fails

Palo Alto's Measure D bond issue to improve local libraries received 61.4% of the vote in Tuesday's election, but failed to secure the necessary 2/3 margin to pass.  Our thanks to all who worked so hard to develop plans for the library improvements and to those who created a vigorous and visible campaign.  See Palo Alto official election results.

Libraries Closed for November Holidays

All Palo Alto libraries will be closed on Monday, November 11 for the Veteran's Day holiday and Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday.

This notice comes to you from the non-profit organization Friends of the Palo Alto Library.  We're proud to have provided approximately $200,000 in our 2001/2002 fiscal year to help Palo Alto public libraries.  Visit our web site.  Become a member by joining online.
